Often moms reach out wanting doula care but cannot afford it in their birth budget. As I would love to offer free doula care for every mom, it just isn’t a reality. Every dollar donated will be used to provide doula care for local moms here in the Columbus, OH area.

I’m Em - mama of many, wife to my best friend and new homestead-er.


I created my photography business in 2018 not knowing exactly what I wanted to capture, I just knew I wanted to help those in my community save their memories for a lifetime. Fast forward to 2021, I attended my first birth, a sweet home birth. After that I know that birth work was exactly what I was looking for - it has become my passion. In winter of 2022 I got my doula certification to serve local mamas during their pregnancy, labor and postpartum. Now, today in 2024 I have served over 19 mamas and counting and have been published for my birth photography workin a magazine and I have won awards on my work. I enrolled at MCU as a student midwife in 2023 with the intentions to graduate with a bachelors of science in midwifery in 2027.


I am currently serving those in the Johnstown, OH + surrounding area.

Recent Photography Work

****As of December 2022 any photography session booked and requesting a reschedule must be rescheduled within the same year. If you are requesting a re-booking within one year a new deposit payment must be made in full to get on my calendar within one year of your original session date. Any session that is not rescheduled within a year of original booking date can no longer be rescheduled.

****All payments made including but not limited to deposits, payments in a payment plan or otherwise are nonrefundable. Awakening Moments will do their best to accommodate clients on a unique basis as required.

  • Birth Session, baby Leo

    I found Emily through my midwife who posted an ad that she was looking for a handful of ladies having homebirths to photograph. This was my last baby. Our only boy. And I wanted it documented to cherish forever. Unfortunately he decided he wanted to cut it close and come two weeks late and the night before Emily would be going on a vacation to Mexico. Emily did not have to attend my birth that night. I would have understood and was prepared to put the money towards something else. She could have easily told me that it was too much when she had to be at the airport by 4am the next day. But she didn’t. Emily is the kind of person who genuinely cares about her birth clients. She is full of patience, kindness, and understanding. It shows in her actions and her work. I did not get the opportunity to meet her before she attended my birth but it was like welcoming an old friend in to my home. She fit right in chatting with me and my midwives as I quickly progressed through labor. Her photos captured exactly what I hoped for and I will cherish those memories forever. If I could have changed anything at all it would have been that baby came on a sooner date so we could have snapped more pictures of the placenta and afterbirth. But babies have minds of their own and you gotta roll with the punches. Emily did that perfectly. If you want a photographer who will be responsive in communications, super professional, quick with turn around, and provide excellent quality photos Emily is your gal.
